Shannon Heritage Sites Expected To Reopen Full-Time From April

The Minister Of State at the Department of Transport has confirmed that it’s expected that Shannon Heritage sites will reopen on a full-time basis from April.

Clare County Council is in the process of taking over the management of Knappgoue Castle, Craggaunowen and Bunratty Castle & Folk Park in Clare from Shannon Group.

Despite the local authority telling the government it needs capital funding to move forward in the process, Council CEO Pat Dowling has told elected representatives he’s hopeful of managing the three Shannon Heritage sites by the summer season.

Responding to a question from Meelick Fianna Fáil Deputy Cathal Crowe, Minister Hildegarde Naughton acknowledged the contribution that the sites make to the MidWest’s tourism offering.
