Renewed Call For Government Support To Boost Clare Tourism Bed Capacity

A renewed call has been made for Clare communities to receive government support to boost tourism bed capacity.

It follows a recent Fáilite Ireland survey of tourism beds contracted to the Department of Integration which has found that Clare has the highest rate of contracted beds at 33%.

In relation to the shortage of available beds in the county, Clare County Council has said “the role of the private sector is key in responding to market demand for accommodation”.

Lisdoonvarna Fine Gael Councillor Joe Garrihy, who raised a motion on the subject at this month’s meeting of Clare County Council which took place this week, believes tax incentives are needed in order to attract accommodation providers.
