Clare’s Fianna Fáil TD says the county’s bouyant tourism sector has gone belly under in the space of just a week.

It follows the decision by An Bord Pleanála not to grant permission for coastal protection works at Trump Doonbeg – a decision that’s been labelled as putting up to 300 jobs in West Clare at risk.

This is on top of the COVID-19 crisis which is continuing to decimate the tourism and hospitality sectors, as successive businesses close up shop.

Meelick Deputy Cathal Crowe says the decision by An Bord Pleanála doesn’t make sense, particularly at what is an extremely worrying time.
