Clare Hotelier Says Prospect Of No Staycation Market Is ‘Disastrous’ For Tourism

A prominent Clare hotelier says the prospect of no staycation market taking place this summer would be ‘disastrous’ for the tourism sector.

The government say clarity should be given on the issue in the next couple of weeks to help the hospitality industry prepare, but are giving no guarantees that people will be permitted to travel outside their county boundaries this summer.

It comes as the Tourism Recovery Oversight Group’s first report recommends a more ‘consumer friendly’ version of the Stay and Spend scheme to be implemented if holidays can take place.
