Nurses say there were three times as many patients on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick this morning as all ten eastern hospital combined and more than double the number of the next busiest facilities.
The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there were 111 patients waiting for beds at the Dooradoyle facility this morning, 46 of those in the Emergency Department.

This compares to 53 at all ten hospitals serving the entire east of the country today, 54 at Galway University hospital alone and 52 at Cork University Hospital.
Overall, the INMO Trolleywatch figure for this region’s main hospital represents almost 30% of the country total of 375 today.
