Three water supplies in Clare have been deemed ‘vulnerable’ in a new Environmental Protection Agency report released today.
The EPA Drinking Water Quality in Public Supplies Report 2020 claims supplies in Corofin, Ennistymon and West Clare require significant upgrade works.
The areas concerned impact the drinking water quality of nearly 20,000 people across this county, though no water restrictions are deemed needed at this point by the HSE.
Irish Water says construction work is already underway at the Carron and New Doolough water treatment plants, with work on Ennistymon’s equivalent in Ballymacraven due to begin in 2023.
Speaking with Clare FM’s Josh Prenderville, Senior Inspector with the EPA Dr Michelle Minihan says it’s vital these dates are kept to.
