Thousands of homes and businesses in parts of West and North Clare are without phone and broadband this morning following extensive damage to fibre infrastructure.
Open Eir has confirmed that extensive accidental damage was caused to overhead fibre infrastructure between Corofin and Ennistymon due to agricultural machinery, affecting phone and broadband services for approximately 3,500 customers.
The open eir resolution team worked late into the night and resumed efforts at first light to restore services, with full restoration expected later this morning.
Open Eir is urging customers to report any damage to telecommunications infrastructure, as it says this is essential to support recovery efforts and anyone who encounters damaged or dangerous network equipment such as poles or lines, should phone 1800 245 245.
