Third Of Women Report Finding Gardaí Unhelpful When Reporting Domestic Violence

A Killaloe representative of Safe Ireland has expressed disappointment over new figures which show that over a third of women who reported domestic violence to Gardaí last year found them ‘unhelpful’.

In its annual report, Women’s Aid says just under 16 thousand domestic violence incidents against women were reported to the organisation in 2017, and a further 3 and a half thousand involving child abuse.

The report says Garda responses ranged from very negative to very positive.
