Clare Gardaí are warning of a further rise in the theft of catalytic converters from cars across the county.

In the latest incidents, which follow a spate of such thefts over recent months, a total of four converters have been stolen in the past week from parked cars in Sixmilebridge, Shannon, Newmarket-on-Fergus and Cratloe.

Catalytic converters are targeted by criminals because they contain valuable metals, ordinarily used to reduce a car’s emissions.
