The Burren and Cliffs of Moher has retained its designation as a Geo-park. in what has been hailed as a highly significant move for the area.
The area was first honored as a Geo-park in 2011, but that status is reviewed every four years.
The Geo-park status is in recognition of outstanding geological and cultural heritage, and has been seen as a key part of driving the region as a destination for sustainable tourism.
Dr. Eamon Doyle of the Burren and Cliffs of Moher Geopark says the status has also helped drive a number of projects locally.
