Terror Scare at Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower has been closed to all visitors after a terror scare at the iconic French landmark.

The alarm was raised after a man 'with a large backpack' was seen ascending the tower in Paris at around 9am.

Anti-terror police attended the scene along with a helicopter.

The tower has since been blocked off by police and tourists have been asked to stay clear of the attraction for the day.

Security at the tower has increased significantly since the Charlie Hebdo attacked in January.
