Around €70m has been announced in funding for school improvements.
The Minister for Education Ruairi Quinn says there are two parts to the allocation-with over €28mbeing made available as a once-off payment to primary schools as part of the Minor Works Grant scheme.

The funding will be paid to primary schools in the coming weeks and will allow schools to carry out small repair works.
While another €40m is also being allocated under the Summer Works programme for next year, to allow schools undertake building works such as mechanical works, roof and window upgrades and structural improvements.
