A teenager has been charged with the murder of Melanie(McCarthy) McNamara in Dublin earlier this year.

The 16 year old was shot dead as she sat with three men in a parked car at Brookview Way in Tallaght on the night of February 7th last.
Melanie was not the intended target of the drive-by shooting but died in hospital shortly afterwards.
Today a 17 year old youth who can’t be named for legal reasons was charged with her murder at Tallaght Children’s Court.
He was remanded in detention to appear before Cloverhill District Court again on October 9th.
The teenager is the second person charged in connection with Melanie’s killing – a 23-year-old man was brought before the courts just two weeks after her death.
