Teagasc Issues Warning About Dairy Incomes

Teagasc is warning that incomes on dairy farms could fall 50% next year.

The group is predicting that farmers' profit margin on a litre of milk will fall to an average of 2 cent per litre, as a result of falling global milk prices.

The Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association President John Comer says the indirect impact would hit every parish in Ireland, and that consumers will lose out in the long run if dairy farmers are forced out of business.
