Teachers To Hold Lunchtime Protests In Junior Cycle Reform Row

Second-level teachers in Clare and across Ireland will take part in lunchtime protests outside their schools this afternoon.

Members of the TUI and ASTI are calling on the Minister for Education to negotiate with them over the need for external assessment as part of the reformed Junior Cert.

Teachers says they're fighting to protect their students and their future, and insist they'll continue to do so again in September if necessary.

Teacher at St Flannan's College, Ennis and Clare Representative of the ASTI Peter Quinn says teachers are trying to minimise disruption to students.
