Independents Mick Wallace and Clare Daly have already been convicted have entering a restricted zone at Shannon Airport, but said they wouldn't pay the fine imposed upon them.

Mick Wallace, of Clontarf Road, Dublin, and Clare Daly of Elmwood Drive, Swords in Dublin, were found guilty of entering a restricted zone at Shannon in July of last year.

They admitted using a rope ladder to scale the security fence there, and said they were attempting to inspect military aircraft.

The TDs were given a 2,000 euro fine at Ennis District Court in April, but vowed not to pay.

Thay had until the end of July to make the payment, or else serve a 30-day jail sentence.

Reports say the TDs have been in contact with Clare Gardaí in recent days, though neither Deputies Wallace or Daly have made public comment.
