Enda Kenny's defended the 'Rebuilding Ireland' housing plan launched yesterday saying it is a genuine attempt to deal with the issues of homelessness and housing.
But the Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams says the commitment to build 47,000 social homes falls short of what needs to be done.
Mr Kenny has echoed comments of Clare party colleague Joe Carey in saying that local authorities must now step up and deliver.
