Taoiseach To Tackle Leadership Issue Tomorrow

The Taoiseach’s insisting he’ll deal with the issue of his leadership of the country at tomorrow’s Fine Gael parliamentary party meeting.

It’s understood the issue was raised briefly at this morning’s cabinet meeting.

Fianna Fáil is warning the situation can’t descend into a circus and wants clarity in the coming days.

There was no mention of the leadership issue at this mornings gathering of Fine Gael ministers before Cabinet.

Though it’s understood minister charlie flanagan did offer an apology to minister simon harris over the weekends whatsapp group message debacle.

Heading into the cabinet meeting itself Independent alliance super junior minister Finian McGrath said the issue needed to be dealt with

And it’s understood he did bring it up with the Taoiseach at Cabinet, Enda Kenny telling the gathering he’d deal with it at the PP meeting tomorrow.

For it’s part, Fianna Fáil says this issue needs to be dealt with in the coming days so the government can get on with its job.

Speculation continues as to who might be challengers alongside Leo Varadkar and Simon Coveney – Simon Harris keeping everyone guessing by saying his age shouldn’t go against him.

The Dáil resumes this afternoon and it’s unlikely Enda Kenny will get through the day without somebody raising his future with him.
