Taoiseach Says Request By Clare County Council For Ukraine Refugee Funding Would Be Considered

The Taoiseach says any request by Clare County Council for specific funding to deal with the Ukrainian refugee crisis will be considered.

Micheal Martin was briefed on the latest developments in the war-torn country by the Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during his stopover at Shannon Airport yesterday afternoon.

It comes as CEO of the local authority, Pat Dowling is warning that the challenge of accommodating an increasing number of Ukrainian refugees here is reaching ‘a difficult phase’.

When asked whether funding for Clare County Council would be forthcoming, the Taoiseach said government would consider a request by any local authority for aid.
