The Taoiseach says a work stoppage by nurses in the Mid West will not solve the problem of overcrowding in hospitals.
Today’s action, the second in the space of a week, is being taken by nuses to highlight what they say is ‘gross overcrowding’ in the Accident and Emergency department at Dooradoyle

Last night, talks at Labour Relations Commission- to try and resolve the impasse- broke up without an agreement.
Enda Kenny’s told the Dáil that the situation this morning in Limerick is that six patients are on trollies and 41 are awaiting assessment.
He says it’s a serious situation but adds that nurses downing tools for four hours today will not fix the issue.
