Taoiseach rules out giveaway budget

The Taoiseach's warning there'll be no more money than already promised in next month's budget – despite new figures showing the economy is booming again. 

The Central Statistics Office says growth in the first six months of the year was six-point-seven percent higher than in 2014.

Ministers have also been warned they need to make choices as all of their demands can't be met. 

The GDP figures from the CSO show the Irish economy growing at levels not seen since the height of the boom. 

Our economy is now growing at a rate every three months that is more than the rest of Europe is seeing in a year. 

But the Government's quick to dampen down demands for a giveaway budget in advance of the election. 

The Taoiseach's insisting the recovery remains fragile and a maximum of 1.5 billion extra will be allocated in next months budget: 

As his party gathered here in Limerick for the annual think-in before the Dáil returns, Enda Kenny was also keen to warn his Ministers to live within their means saying they'll have to make choices based on what's available to them. 

He's also told TDs and Senators that the message for the election will be that people have a choice between the current Government or chaos.
