The Taoiseach has claimed that an announcement on sewerage schemes for Cooraclare and Broadford should be made by the end of the year.
Last April, Clare County Council put both villages forward as part of a €50m pilot scheme aiming to provide wastewater treatment services in unsewered settlements.
Each local authority was only allowed to submit two applications, meaning areas such as Carrigaholt, Spanish Point and Doolin missed out.
Speaking in the Dáil in response to Scariff Independent TD Michael McNamara, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar says he’s hopeful that the successful projects as well as a second funding round will soon be confirmed.
