Tánaiste Told Affordable Housing Schemes Failing Clare’s Middle Income Earners

The Dáil has heard today that the Affordable Housing Scheme is failing Clare’s middle income earners.

Earlier this month, Clare County Council revealed that the entry point for affordable housing units due to come on stream here would be €50,000.

This is despite the cut off for social housing in this county being €35,000 for a single adult.

Scariff Independent Deputy Michael McNamara told Tanáiste Micheál Martin during Leaders Questions this afternoon that young graduates in particular cannot afford to live in Clare.
