Talks to resolve Bus strike to get underway later

Talks aimed at resolving the strike action at Bus Eireann will begin at 8 pm.

The development – brokered by the Labour Relations Commission – came as the National Bus and Rail Union warned that colleagues at Irish Rail and Dublin Bus were likely to join them on the picketlines.

It’s hoped the discussions will find some resolution to the impasse over Bus Eireann’s 5 million euro cost cutting plan.

Although there are no pre-conditions attached to tonight’s talks it’s thought likely that unions will postpone the rolling strike action later tonight to allow for meaningful discussions.
