The Survivors of Symphysiotomy group is calling on the Government to put forward a compensation fund of between 250 and 450 thousand euro for each woman.

Symphysiotomy surgeries were carried out on women at childbirth – their pelvis was broken, often without their consent, and most women suffered long term health problems as a result.
The Government has commissioned a report into the practice – which is expected to be published tomorrow.
But- the SOS group -says the Walsh report does not go far enough – and the compensation scheme on offer will not be enough.
