Swimmers advised to stay away from three Clare beaches due to pollution

Swimmers are being advised to stay out of the water at three Clare beaches this weekend, due to the possibility of pollution.

Clare County Council say tests on the bathing water at Lahinch, Kilkee and Spanish Point beaches did not meet quality limits during tests on Wednesday last.

As a result of this, and what the local authority terms ‘abnormal weather conditions’, swimmers are advised to stay out of the water at these beaches until the test results return to satisfactory levels.

The Blue Flags at Lahinch and Kilkee are also being temporarily removed until this occurs.
