St Vincent DePaul is appealing to people in Clare who are struggling financially in the run up to Christmas not to turn towards illegal money-lenders.

The charity's Clare President has pointed to a problem with money-lenders in the county and says that while SVP isn't in a position to help everyone, there's many arrangements that can be put in place to ease the financial burden on people.
John Cullinane believes that many people who manage to keep on top of bills over the coming weeks may find themselves in a difficult position early in the new year.
But John is warning that its never a good idea to turn to money-lenders.
