For example a common drug used to treat stomach ulcers was priced at just over 22 euro in some pharmacies – while in others it was almost 50 euro.
The average percentage difference across a range of commonly prescribed drugs nationwide was 56 per cent.
The NCA is advising customers – particularly those on long term medication – to shop around.
