Support for potential national air ambulance landing sites in Clare

Clare Councillors have backed calls for designated sites for the national air ambulance to land.

The proposal would provide areas along the coast and the Shannon Estuary where the helicopter could safely meet up with emergency services in the case of emergency.

The air ambulance is based at Custume Barracks Athlone in County Westmeath and is requested by paramedics attending medical emergencies when a patient needs to be transported quickly to a hospital.
