Plans by the Managing Director of Supermac’s to renovate a derelict commercial premises in Ennis have been given the green light.
Softdtrive LTD, of which Mr Pat McDonagh is Director, has ambitious proposals to develop a new mixed use residential and retail premises in the county town.
The building in question is the fire damaged former Western Fabrics store in the Market which has been closed for some time and remains boarded up.
But it looks like this is about to change, as planning permission has been granted for the existing three-storey building and adjacent three-storey house to be demolished.
Under the plans, the new ground floor will be equipped with a commercial, retail and office area along with an entrance lobby.
The second floor will have 3 x two-bed apartments, while the third floor will have 2 x two-bed units.
The development has also been granted a Part V planning exemption from Minister Kieran O’Donnell, meaning it will not have to provide any of its stock or space for social or affordable housing.
The project will also involve the construction of new signage and shopfronts for the future businesses to be.
Planning permission was ultimately granted subject to 21 conditions.
