A Clare Governemnt TD insists it’s vital that sufficient consideration is given before appointing a new Garda Commissioner.
The search is underway for Noirin O’Sullivan’s replacament after she announced her resignation following a year of several scandals within the force.
The Justice Minister hasn’t ruled out the possibility of someone from outside the state being appointed, but it’s understood the process will take a number of months.
