Stike action at Element Six in Shannon has been deferred.
Workers had been due to mount pickets today, but instead talks aimed at resolving the dispute will take place.
SIPTU members at the company, formerly known as De Beers, were due to embark on a 24-hour work stoppage from this morning, in a dispute over changes to working conditions.
96% of union members voted in favour of a strike amidst frustration over the company's failure to implement a Labour Court Recommendation on changes to work practices.
SIPTU members make up around a quarter of the company's workforce which is around 400.
Last ditch efforts to resolve the dispute continued into the early hours of this morning and SIPTU has confirmed that strike action has now been deferred to allow for the continuation of these talks at the Workplace Relations Commission.
