‘Storm Of Events’ To Blame For Low Kilkee Visitor Numbers

It’s claimed a bathing ban alone wasn’t to blame for decreased tourism numbers in Kilkee in recent weeks.

Former Chair of Loop Head Tourism Cillian Murphy says a perfect storm of events including Riverfest, the Great Limerick Run and a recent Munster match have all impacted heavily on footfall at the West Clare tourist hot spot.

A ‘Do Not Swim’ notice, which was issued by Clare County Council in December, remains in place until works are completed by Irish Water at the local waste water treatment plant.
