Stobart Air has announced that it's to review its operations in Shannon.
It's understood that the former Aer Arann, which operates Aer Lingus Regional services, has informed staff of plans to close the base at Shannon, and that workers have been offered the chance to re-locate to Dublin or accept redundancy.
It's not known if the move will impact on the airline's services at Shannon.
Just four weeks ago Stobart Air – which operates Aer Lingus Regional had said passenger numbers from Shannon had increased by 43 per cent.
However the airline now says it is reviewing its operations out of the Clare Airport.
Between January and September, Aer Lingus Regional flew over 111,000 passengers through Shannon Airport, but the company had targeted a total of 200,000 passengers for all of this year, and 240,000 for next year.
It also ended its Shannon-Manchester service last month, on the same week that Ryanair began operations on the same route.
In a statement to Clare FM, the firm says full details of their 2015 schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
A Spokesperson for Shannon Airport says it is engaged in ongoing discussions with Stobart Air and it awaits the outcome of this review.
