Shannon Airport says remaining part of the Government’s Regional Airports Programme will be top of its Christmas wish list.
Launched in 2021, the scheme provides targeted funding towards safety and security related projects and activities to airports that handle fewer than one million passengers annually.
The findings of a review of the programme published in July recommended a new Regional State Airports Sustainability Programme with a budget of over €4m be established to support Shannon and Cork.
Shannon Airport Director Niall Kearns says while the Clare base has made great strides in the last few years, its continued success hinges on State support.
