A high level status red marine warning has been issued from Loop Head in Clare to Fair Head, as Storm Amy batters the county.
Met Éireann is warning that southwest to west winds may reach violent storm force at times along the coast, between two o’clock on Friday afternoon and 8 o’clock that night.
A status yellow wind alert is in place for the rest of the county on Friday from noon until midnight and the national forecaster is warning of difficult travelling conditions, debris or loose objects and some fallen trees.
A status yellow rain alert, meanwhile, remains in place for Clare until 8 o’clock tonight, with thunderstorms already affecting coastal areas of the county.
