West Clare was left without emergency ambulance cover for almost seven hours yesterday as the ongoing crisis with staff shortages continues.

One paramedic reported for duty in Kilrush at 8 o'clock yesterday morning but was later sent to Ennis to carry out other duties.
It wasn't until 3 o'clock in the afternoon when a decision was made to take a rapid response vehicle out of service in order to transfer staff to West Clare.
