St. Flannan’s Teacher Warns Of Major Flaws In Leaving Cert Science Reform

A Clare Leaving Cert science teacher is warning of major flaws in newly proposed project work that will account for a large chunk of the final grade.

As part of Senior Cycle reforms, the Department of Education is aiming to introduce an external examination component that will be worth 40%.

The Irish Science Teacher’s Association which represents over 1,400 professionals nationwide has distanced itself from the plans citing concerns over potential cheating along with a lack of equitable resources for students of different schools.

St. Flannan’s Teacher John Conneely believes the plans can work with some revisions.
