St Flannan’s Students Praised After Securing NASA Award

A teacher from St. Flannan's College in Ennis says four student who have scooped the top honours in an international competition organised by NASA have done their school and county proud.

Sean Donnelly, Kieran Maher, Jason Herbert and Eoghan Keane came top in their category in the Space Settlement Design Contest, with proposals for a human settlement in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

They will now go on to present their project in front of an audience of leading scientists and those in the space industry at a major conference in Puerto Rico next month and are hoping a sponsor will come forward to fund their trip. 

Their teacher John Conneely says the win is a result of many hours of hard work.
