The proposed development for the expansion of St Flannan’s College in Ennis has been labelled the future in high-end design.
A 2,500 square metre extension to the college is due to be completed in time for the new school year – the first of a scheme implemented by the Department of Education to copy the design in other parts of the country.
The development is designed to be both rapid-build and environmentally sustainable with 87% of the design constructed before being erected on site and provisional tests identifying an A2 BER rating for the structure.
Director of Healy Partners Architects, who drew up the design, Aran Healy, claims pre-fabricated timber structures such as this are the way forward.
