St Flannan’s Cathedral in Killaloe is to receive a funding boost aimed at repairing and protecting the historic structure into the future.
Minister of State for Nature, Heritage and Biodiversity, Christopher O’Sullivan has today announced that €114,600 will be awarded to the 13th century cathedral, under this year’s Historic Structures Fund.
The funding will go towards phase four of extensive conservation works and will focus on the repair and re-slating of the North Transept.
Operated on a match-funding basis, the Historic Structures Fund promotes the investment of private capital into the preservation and rejuvenation of the country’s architectural heritage.
