The Director of Communications for the Killaloe Diocese believes changes in the church will happen slowly.

A survey of thousands of parishioners across the country has suggested ordaining women as priests, more welcoming attitudes to the LGBT+ community, allowing clergy to marry and making celibacy optional.

The findings have been sent to Rome and the local Diocesan Pastoral Council will meet in September to discuss what action can be taken in the short-term to implement change.

Fr. Brendan Quinlivan, Parish Priest in the Killaloe Diocese believes change will happen at a local level first and filter up to lead to universal change.
