Speed limits on some of Clare's busiest roads look set to be reduced.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland, formerly the National Roads Authority, has carried out an analysis of the national road network, and for the first time the width of roads is being taken into account when determining whether a default speed limit should apply.

In practice, this means the speed limit will be reduced from 100- to 80 kilometres per hour on all of the N67, which runs from Kinvara-Killimer.

A similar reduction will also be imposed on significant portions of the Ennis-Kilrush and Ennistymon Roads, though limits will increase to 100 kilometres per hour on a significant section of the Ennis-Portumna road.
