Specialist Cladding Inspectors To Investigate University Hospital Limerick

Specialist cladding inspectors have been brought into investigate University Hospital Limerick and four other Irish high-rise hospitals in the wake of the Grenfell disaster.

71 people lost their lives in a fire at the London flat complex, which was linked to cladding that didn’t meet building regulations.

The HSE has confirmed to the Irish Independent, that five Irish hospitals, including the region’s main hospital, have been identified as being in the “highest risk category”, on account of being six stories high and include sleeping accommodation.

If external cladding is in place it will be evaluated and inspected and remedial works will be carried out where necessary.
