South East Clare Water Notice Lifted With Immediate Effect

A ‘do not consume’ notice affecting more than 7,500 customers in South East Clare has been lifted, following consultation with the HSE.

Residents on the Shannon/Sixmilebridge public supply have unable to drink from the mains for more than a week after dangerous levels of manganese were found.

Irish Water says an intensive programme of flushing, reservoir cleaning and water quality sampling has been undertaken to allow the notice to be lifted with immediate effect.

The utility says its working to identify and implement further improvement measures which will reduce the risk of a similar issues occurring in the future.
