South-East Clare Man Living With Painful Skin Condition Says People Going Undiagnosed For Years

A south-east Clare man living with a painful long-term skin condition says it’s taking people years to get diagnosed due to a lack of awareness.

This weeks marks International HS Awareness Week which aims to shine a light on hidradenitis supperativa – an inflammatory skin condition that causes throbbing lumps on intimate parts of the body.

Despite affecting over 74,000 people nationwide, the condition remains largely misunderstood and many people go undiagnosed for years.

Parteen native and Chairperson of HS Ireland, Barry McGrath, claims many medical professionals aren’t as informed on it as they should be.
