South East Clare Councillor Says Gardaí No Longer Familar With Area

A South East Clare Councillor is calling for an increase in Gardaí in Sixmilebridge to match the rise in the town’s population.

Fianna Fáil Councillor Alan O’Callaghan says it makes little sense to have reduced the number of Gardaí on patrol in the town when the area has expanded in recent decades.

The Kilmurry-based Councillor is also concerned at the high number of calls to Sixmilebridge Garda Station which are diverted to Shannon.

Councillor O’Callaghan is unhappy with the change in how rural Ireland is policed and is worried that Gardaí are no longer familiar with the area or the people living there.
