Social Housing “Saturation” Said To Be Putting Pressure On Clare’s Urban Centres

An uneven spread of social housing across Clare is said to be putting pressure on services in particular areas.

There are over 2,800 people on the social housing list in this county at the moment and the lion’s share of applicants have put Ennis, Shannon or Clarecastle as their area of choice.

74 households were allocated social housing in Clare in the final three months of 2023, with 29 of these coming into their new tenancies from homeless or emergency accommodation.
