A review of income threshold limits for social housing is set to be completed this month, the Junior Minister at the Department of Housing has confirmed.
Minister Damien English has been speaking weeks after issues relating to a so-called ‘squeezed middle’ were raised last month at a meeting of the Clare County Council committee which deals with housing.
It heard that there is a growing cohort of people who are earning too much to qualify for social housing, and not enough to secure a mortgage.
In an interview with Clare FM, while he visited Ennis, Feakle and Clonlara yesterday, the Minister insisted other supports are available and he also stressed that his Department will support Councils in delivering housing.
