€800 million is being made available for lending to small and medium businesses by a new State-backed scheme.

The Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland will be launched this morning by the Finance and Public Expenditure Ministers – and the German Finance Minister.
It's hoped the scheme will kick-start lending to SMEs – with more favourable terms like lower rates and longer durations.
